Didirikan pada tahun 2011 Komunitas Daun Lontar (KDL) merupakan organisasi komunitasyang berbadan hukum berdasarkan Surat Keputusan Menteri Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia Republik Indonesia No. AHU-0071719.AH.01.07.TAHUN 2016 tanggal 24 Agustus 2016 dan Akta Notaris nomor 13 tanggal 09 Agustus 2016  yang tujuannya adalah untuk mengembangkan studi ilmiah mengenai budaya, sastra, dan bahasa.

Selanjutnya komunitas ini membuat jurnal ilmiah nasional diberi nama DAUN LONTAR adalah Jurnal Ilmiah yang telah diterbitkan pertama kali pada tahun 2012 dan sejak tahun 2016 diterbitkan dua kali setahun pada bulan Februari dan September, serta sudah terdaftar di LIPI dan terindeks  secara online melalui ojs.komunitasdaunlontar.or.id.  Jurnal ini berisi tulisan yang diangkat dari hasil penelitian, gagasan konseptual, kajian dan aplikasi teori, dan ulasan buku di bidang ilmu kemanusiaan.
